TRADE: Saints Acquire Procyk From Adanacs

by Owen Munro

TRADE ALERT

The Port Coquitlam Saints have acquired Gabe Procyk from the Coquitlam Adanacs in exchange for the Jr. A and B playing rights of Ryan MacBeth and Future Considerations.

In Procyk, Poco acquires a player who has a proven track record as a point-getter, scoring 24 goals and 51 points in 19 games with the A's last season. This one has been a bit of a tougher go, as he only has two goals and 19 assists in 10 games. With Coquitlam expected to make more acquisitions closer to the deadline and the depth in their club, it allows them to move on from players they may not see an immediate future.

Procyk has also proven to be an immediate threat in the field game with UMass. He started all 15 games at attack, leading the MInutemen in goals scored with 36. He was lethal during man-up situations, tallying a quarter of his goals with the man advantage. That, along with his Minto Cup resume, can help inject some experience into a young Saints roster that is trying to retool instead of rebuild.

Macbeth hasn't featured for the Saints yet in Jr. A this season, and has just one appearance with their B1 club, a two-assist night against the Langley Thunder. MacBeth has plenty of potential as he was the No. 7 overall selection in the 2017 draft, but he did have 16 points in six games last season with the B1 team, including 11 goals.
