After dominating the number one and two spots in the BCJALL since the season began in late April, the Coquitlam Adanacs and Victoria Shamrocks were brought back to reality this weekend after suffering losses to the Islanders and Lakers. While both teams remain atop the league, they were handed a healthy reminder of what their competition can bring to the table.

Victoria will most likely be hardest on themselves after tonight’s loss, knowing Delta handed them a gift on Saturday night being the only team to beat the A’s so far this season. When it came down to it the Lakers played a more disciplined game, and had more quality chances in the Victoria zone. Shots in the game were dead even at 44 a piece, but after watching the game I assumed they would have been heavy in Burnaby’s favor. The ‘Rocks didn’t make enough out of the chances they did have, even on six foot seven goalie Brodie MacDonald who wasn’t spectacular for a full sixty minutes, but spectacular when he had to be with the Victoria offense bearing down on him.
Elsewhere tonight Nanaimo edged Port Coquitlam 13-12 on the mainland, putting them one point ahead of Delta and two behind Burnaby, good for sixth place in the BCJALL.
