Tmen Sign Two Players

Nanaimo, BC – The Nanaimo Junior A Timbermen have signed a pair of free agent players from the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League. Brett Hawrys and Owen Barker will join a promising core of T-Men players as they aim to return to the BCJLL playoffs. Both players spent last season with the Armstrong Shamrocks.

Hawrys, a 5’10 180lbs quick right-hander, led the TOJLL in scoring last season by a wide margin. Over 13 games he totalled 46 goals and 38 assists and was 21 points clear of the runner-up in the league scoring race. He was also named league MVP

Barker, a 5’11 185lbs left-hander, was fourth in TOJLL league scoring last season. A talented playmaker, he amassed 21 goals and 29 assists over 11 games played. Barker will also bring more grit to the T-Men as he is high motor, hardworking player who totalled 100 penalty minutes over those same 11 games.

The T-Men are thrilled to have both Hawrys and Barker in the lineup for the upcoming season.

In a separate transaction, the Timbermen have acquired Victoria’s 1st round pick in the 2014 Midget draft to complete last year’s Paul Brebber trade.

The Timbermen open their main training camp Saturday, April 6th at the Nanaimo Ice Centre. Any free agent players looking to attend training camp are asked to contact General Manager Jon Nicholson at jon_nich@yahoo.com
