Timbermen Acquire New Goaltender
The Nanaimo Junior A Timbermen have acquired the rights of goalie Jerryd Jensen from the Newmarket Saints in Ontario.
Jensen is expected to join the Tmen on April 12th. Last season the Aurora Ontario product appeared in 10 games with the Saints and put up an 8.15 goals against average with a 5-4 record.
Jensen has already played two years of Junior lacrosse in Ontario, so the 18 year old has three years of Junior eligibility to play with the Nanaimo Timbermen. He has also just completed tryouts for Israel’s Men’s National Team and is expected to lead the team in goal at the U-19 World Lacrosse Challenge.
At 6'6" and 240 lbs Jensen is an imposing figure in net, not unlike NLL and WLA star Brodie McDonald. Even though Jensen was pursued by a number of Junior A teams in Ontario he made the decision to come west and suit up for the Tmen.
The Junior A Timbermen are continuing their preparations for 2015 campaign which kicks off in Coquitlam on April 26th. Nanaimo's home opener is May 2nd against Delta.
