THREE STARS: Gallant sturdy as they come for Saints

by Owen Munro

1st STAR - ANDREW GALLANT, PORT COQUITLAM SAINTS

LAST WEEK: 2 GAMES, 2 WINS, .878 SAVE PERCENTAGE (74 SHOTS AGAINST, 9 GOALS AGAINST)

The Port Coquitlam Saints currently don't have an eligible goalie in the BCJALL.com official stats. That's because they dished Karter Williams to Burnaby when a healthy Andrew Gallant reinserted back into the lineup, creating a crowded crease. Williams was having a breakout season and is tenth in the league in save percentage (.771), but Poco decided they will rely on Gallant the rest of the campaign.

He responded just like they probably hoped he would. Faced with two tough games against quality opponents in New Westminster and Langley, the big man shut the door. He allowed only nine goals on 74 shots and had two stellar games.

Gallant is right behind Christian Del Bianco with a .836 save percentage.

2nd STAR - PEARSON WILLIS, BURNABY LAKERS

LAST WEEK: 3 GAMES, 3 GOALS, 10 ASSISTS, 24 SHOTS (12.5% SHOOTING)

He only sits fourth in team scoring, but Pearson Willis had exactly the type of week we love to highlight.

Delta ended up snapping the Lakers win streak with a 17-11 decision, but it wasn't in part of the efforts of Willis. He had a season-high six assists in the loss and had a hand in each of Burnaby's first five goals. He also had the dish on Josh Dumont's third-period power play goal to make it an 11-10 game, but the Islanders ended up on a seven-goal run to finish the game.

Willis also had four points and 12 shots on goal against his former team in Langley. The third-year vet had an assist on Damon Prince 8-8 goal that sent the game to OT. From there, the Lakers never looked back.

3rd STAR - CODY CLARK, NANAIMO TIMBERMAN

LAST WEEK: 3 GAMES, 2 GOALS, 5 ASSISTS, 11 SHOTS (18% SHOOTING)

Coming off a strong second year in the league, Cody Clark has upped his game to another level as the T-Men fight for a playoff spot.

It hasn't been easy for Nanaimo this year, but Clark has remained steady and consistent throughout the year. He's third on the team in shots with 55 (21.8%), sitting behind Alec Molander and Pascal Coombs, but is first in points with 30 (12 G, 18 A).

He put up an especially good effort against the Lakers, putting up two goals and three assists in a loss.
