The junior A lacrosse team won its fourth consecutive B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League championship Thursday after defeating the Delta Islanders 9-4, ending the best-of-seven series in five games.

The Adanacs now advance through to next week’s Minto Cup, which runs Aug. 18 to 26 in Whitby, Ont.

Though Thursday’s game was scoreless halfway through the first, the Adanacs potted four goals in a seven-minute span to end the opening frame at 4-0.

The teams exchanged four goals apiece in the middle frame, while Tyler Garrison’s third goal of the night represented the lone tally in the third.

Outside of Garrison’s three-goal night, Coquitlam also got a pair of markers from Ben McIntosh, while singles went to Wesley Berg, Vincent Ricci, Andy Taylor and Robert Church, who finished third in overall playoff scoring with 48 points in eight games.

Both of Coquitlam’s goalies saw action as well, with Davide DiRuscio making 25 stops and Riley Camazzola turning aside three shots in just under five minutes worth of action.

The Adanacs heavily outshot Delta 54-32.

Coquitlam opens up Minto Cup play on Saturday, Aug. 18 against the league champion from the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League.
