Approved on Monday June 28th, the Delta Islanders and Port Coquitlam Saints completed a trade that involves ten players altogether, including the Islanders 2011 first round midget draft pick. Being a young team Delta can afford to trade away the majority of their 2009 draft selections to the Saints, who at the end of this season lose 16 players to graduation.
In addition to their first round pick in the 2011 draft the Islanders send Josh Fiorvento (2009 round 3), Chase Kelliher and Jimmy Latin (both 2009 round 4), Rob Peterson (2009 round 7), and Jamie Takiya (who was chosen by Coquitlam in 2009 in round 3).
In exchange Port Coquitlam send four of their sixteen 1989 players who amount for 135 of their 324 total team points, including their top two scorers Trevor Evans (51points, 25 goals) and Darcy Cummings (49 points, 18 goals). Poco native and University of Maryland, Baltimore County field player Scott Jones who has 30 points in 11 games is also on the move, along with Matt Laustrup.
