Stickmen Name Gulliford as New Head Coach

Joe Willmott, President and Governor of the Surrey Stickmen announced today the appointment of Curtis Gulliford as the Stickmen's new head coach. Willmott said "we are delighted to have Curtis join the Stickmen organization. He is a proven winner and has a rich history playing on championship teams."

Curtis, considered one of the best lacrosse players in the province when he played his minor lacrosse in New Westminster, played on provincial championship teams in Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget. In his Midget year he was awarded the Provincial MVP trophy and the "Lacrosse Boy of the Year" award. As a Midget he played on the Provincial Championship Intermediate A team.

In Curtis' rookie year with the Salmonbellies, his team won the 1994 BCJALL championship and the Minto Cup defeating the Brampton Excelsior's. That year he was the leading goal scorer in both the league championship and the Minto Cup. Curtis and the Junior Salmonbellies went to the national championship again, the next year and lost to the Orangeville Northmen.

Curtis was drafted by the Adanacs of the Western Lacrosse Association and traded to Maple Ridge where he played for 5 years. Curtis retired from Lacrosse in 2004 to spend more time with his young family.

Curtis currently lives in Langley and is married with two daughters.
