Stickmen Coach Replaced - Scott to do Double Duty
The South Fraser Stickmen announced tonight that Head Coach Curtis Gulliford has stepped down and will be replaced immediately by Jamie Scott.
Jamie will become Head coach for both the Junior A and Intermediate A Stickmen according to Club President Joe Wilmott. "We're very sorry this had to happen,' said Wilmott, adding 'Curtis is a wonderful individual and an excellent coach, however, the Juniors have been struggling and needed a change,' he said.
The move comes as the Stickmen reflect on an (0 - 3) start to the 2008 season, with increasingly ragged and undisciplined performances in the last two games.
Coach Scott of Abbotsford comes to the Stickmen with impressive experience playing and coaching lacrosse for 34 years with outstanding success.
Scott won Provincial and National Championships in minor lacrosse then played five years of Junior lacrosse including a season with South Fraser. He climaxed a 14 year Senior lacrosse career by being named MVP in the President's Cup championship game in 1999.
Scott joined the New Westminster Salmonbellies Jr 'A' coaching staff in 2005 - and shared in the coach-of-the-year award.
The Stickmen's next game is Saturday night in Delta against the Islanders. Their next home game is Thursday, May 8th, also against Delta.
