Stickmen Announce Kelly Scott as New Head Coach
SURREY, BC - Newly elected Surrey Stickmen Junior A Lacrosse Club Governor and President, Joe Willmott introduced Kelly Scott as the new head coach for the Junior A club at the Club’s annual general meeting held Monday, December 5, 2005.
Kelly started playing lacrosse at age four in Port Coquitlam and won Provincial Championships with his Peewee and Bantam teams as well as the Nationals in Bantam. Kelly played Junior A Lacrosse for Port Coquitlam and New Westminster.
He was drafted by the Senior A North Shore Indians, but did not play as he was in the armed forces serving overseas. He played a couple of years for the PoCo Saints Senior B team, then coached and was general manager for 2 years.
Kelly then played for the Tri-City Bandits Senior B team in 2003 and 2004 where they won silver. Last season he was the Head Coach and General Manager of the Valley Rebels where the club went from a 1-16-1 season to the WCSLA Finals. He was selected the 2000 Coach of the Year.
Kelly has also coached minor lacrosse in both Port Coquitlam and Mission.
