WATKINS & URBAN TO DONATE $10,000 TO LACROSSE ON THE MOVE FUND PENDING SELL OUT
Vancouver, BC (Tuesday, April 19, 2016) – The Vancouver Stealth announced today that Stealth Owner Denise Watkins and Saskatchewan Rush Owner Bruce Urban will donate $5,000 each ($10,000 total) towards the Lacrosse on the Move Fund pending a sell out on Saturday (April 23) night for the Stealth and Rush game. Lacrosse on the Move is a fund that was set up in partnership between the Vancouver Stealth and the British Columbia Lacrosse Association (BCLA) to raise money for grants for teams travelling to provincials and provincial athletes travelling to nationals. In addition, all kids wearing their jerseys to the game will receive free admission (with a paid adult).
“Supporting Lacrosse in British Columbia is always a high priority with the Stealth, as the funds go directly towards growing the game and future stars of the NLL. We are very grateful for Bruce Urban’s donation on behalf of the Rush franchise, and I hope we both have to write a cheque come Saturday night,” said Stealth owner Denise Watkins.
“BC is a hot bed for future NLL athletes. Having the Stealth play out of Langley gives Vancouver and its surrounding areas access to the one of the greatest sports in the world. It’s extremely important for the lacrosse community in each NLL market to really rally behind their professional team because together, we can take the sport to new heights. I am pleased to make a financial contribution to the British Columbia Lacrosse Association in the event the Stealth are able to sell out their final regular season home game this weekend. The future looks bright for Minor Lacrosse development across the country,” said Bruce Urban, Saskatchewan Rush Owner.
With it being the last regular season home game for the Stealth, the team is giving back to their fans with a ‘Fan Appreciation’ night promotion, which includes:
- All kids wearing their jerseys to the game will get in free (with a paid adult).
- Over $3,500 worth of gift cards to be given away throughout the night from: Cactus Club Café, G&F Financial, Super Save Gas, Tim Hortons, and Town Hall Public House.
- Stealth game-worn and replica jerseys to be handed out to lucky fans.
- Fans who have tickets to the Stealth game also receive free admission into the Langley Food & Wine Show happening this Saturday and Sunday (April 23 & 24) at the Langley Events Centre.
