Special Teams Huge for Thunder in Victory

Township of Langley, BC (Thursday, May 14, 2015) - The Langley Thunder snapped a two game losing skid after downing the Burnaby Lakers 13-10 at the Langley Events Centre on Thursday night.

Bryce Brochu scored a game-high 8 points (3g, 5a) and James Rahe chipped in with a 5 point night (2 Goals, 3 Assists) as the Thunder improved their record to 2-3-1.and jumped ahead of Nanaimo for fourth place in the BCJALL standings.

Langley led from start to finish as Brochu opened the scoring 1:50 into the game. Brodie Porter scored a short-handed goal to make it 2-0 for the home team before the Lakers would score on the powerplay less than a minute later. The Thunder had big game on special teams, scoring two powerplay goals and three shorthanded markers. Jake Sundar made 39 Saves to pick up his second victory of the young season. Burnaby outshot the Thunder 49-46.

Langley led 6-2 after twenty minutes and 11-4 after two periods. Up 13-4 early in the third period, the Lakers would make a charge, scoring the next six goals of the game but ran out of time as the Lakers fell to 1-5-0 on the season.

The Thunder are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the Victoria Shamrocks to the Langley Events Centre for a 5:00PM faceoff.
