Saying Goodbye to Les Wingrove

by Owen Munro

It's with great sadness that we join the lacrosse community in mourning the passing of longtime builder and a legend in the local lacrosse scene, Les Wingrove. He was 74 years old.

Les was a staple in local arenas for years and was most currently a Director Operations and Alternate Governor with the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs. He also held posts as president of the Coquitlam Minor Association, and was also a coach, GM and president of both the Junior and Senior A's. He is also an inductee into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Les put it best when he told Stan Shillington, "I'm too busy in life, but too hooked on lacrosse."

More information on a service will be released in the coming days. Each Junior team will be holding a moment of silence for Les as they open their respective seasons.

We ask that you keep the Wingrove family in your thoughts and prayers.
