Saints defeat Thunder; face Adanacs in semi-finals

The Port Coquitlam Saints looked to end the willd card series at the Langley Events Centre on Thursday night, while the Langley Thunder didn’t want to end their season just yet, or did they?

The Saints got on the board first within the first 5 minutes of the game when BrodieGillespie scored and they continued to pester Thunder goaltender TorinVanrheenen. ClarkeWalter scored roughly 5 minutes later to make it 2-0 Saints.

The Saints continued to dominate the first period, while the Thunder just looked depleted. Goals from ConnorFrost and KeeganBell gave the Saints a 4-0 lead heading into the second period as the Thunder only got off 6 shots in the period.

The second period certainly got out of hand. Thunder’s BryanDuck received a game misconduct for instigating a fight with FraserMiller in the first period and that penalty proved costly to the Thunder. Along with a delay of game penalty, the Saints capitalized on the power play twice within the first 3 minutes of the second period, making it 6-0.

The Thunder started to show up for the game and actually give Saints goaltender AndrewGallant some work, but it was nothing the Saints couldn’t handle.

With 11:30 remaining in the second period, GordPhilips made it 7-0 Saints and GregLunde made it 8-0 roughly 2 minutes later.

The Thunder finally got on the board with 8:15 left on the clock, but that didn’t shift the momentum, as the Saints scored two more goals before the period ended to make it 10-1.

The third period was a complete write off as both teams just sat back. However, what should’ve just been a short period ended up taking longer than usual due to 9 penalties being called for the entire period. You can guess what happened when the score is 10-1.
