Orangeville Punches Ticket to Minto
ORANGEVILLE WINS ONTARIO TITLE OVER BURLINGTON
The Orangeville Northmen's long road to the Minto Cup was finally realized on home soil at the Bunny Barn on Wednesday night. The club outlasted the Burlington Chiefs 11-9 in Overtime to win the Ontario title in 5 games.
Ty Thompson's goal would stand as the winner as Orangeville took home its 10th Ontario title in franchise history and the first since the Northmen were last in Langley for the Minto Cup in 2016. They lost that in heartbreaking fashion to the Coquitlam Adanacs in a 5-game thrilling final series.
The Northmen will do battle with the Adanacs once again at the LEC, and also join the Victoria Shamrocks, as well as the winner of tonight's Game 7 in the Alberta finals between the Calgary Mountaineers and Okotoks Raiders.
