New West's Yanko Moving Field Career Back to Canada
McGill University has locked down New Westminster standout Ty Yanko for the upcoming field lacrosse season, with the 'Bellie heading back across the border to finish out his collegiate career in Canada.
Yanko will transfer to McGill from Hobart College in Geneva, NY. He saw action in 15 games over two seasons with Hobart, putting three goals and an assist on 10 shots. He also had two standout years at The Calverton School in Maryland where he had 163 career points and was considered a prolific scorer in the state at the time.
McGill made it all the way to the CUFLA Baggataway Cup this past Winter in Toronto before bowing out to the Western Mustangs in the semifinals. Yanko will join former Burnaby Laker teammate Kieran McKay and fellow Salmonbellie Naoll Degife among others.
Yanko is in the middle of a breakout box season where he finished the regular season with the 11th most points in the league, putting up 45 goals and 74 points on 22.6% shooting.
