Mounties Take Series Lead Over Raiders

A hot muggy night and a packed arena saw a very familiar scene Wednesday night when the Mountaineers and Raiders got together for Game #3 of the RMLL Jr A final.

Both teams had trouble gaining offensive traction and rhythm for much of the game and transition was limited. However it was a couple of breakaway goals by the Raiders that played a large part in the difference on the scoreboard by games end. As the Raiders have done for the better part of the last decade and a half they capitalized on fast break opportunities.

The Mountaineers, who have been facing some injury problems already without righty Issac Bot and down big lefty threat Jake Gillis, lost another two defenders on the night.

Game 4's in the best of seven format are typically the swing game and it will be interesting to see how each team responds. That game goes down Friday night back at Brentwood Arena in Calgary.
