Malawsky traded to Coquitlam; Langley involved in four trades before trade deadline
A number of trades went down on the final weekend before the trade deadline hit at midnight on June 30 as we enter the final two weeks of the regular season in the BC Junior Lacrosse League 2024 schedule. The Langley Thunder, winless at 0-15, were involved in four trades signalling a build for the future by acquiring a number of key draft picks. The following trades have been approved by the BCJALL.
Malawsky returns to Adanacs
Cody Malawsky has been traded back to the Coquitlam Adanacs for the rest of the 2024 season.
Coquitlam receives:
- Junior A playing rights to Cody Malawsky for the remainder of the 2024 BCJALL Season (NOTE: Malawsky’s Junior A playing rights return to the Langley Thunder at the conclusion of the 2024 Minto Cup.
- Langley’s third-round selection in the 2026 Entry Draft and fourth-round selection in the 2025 Entry Draft
Langley receives:
- Coquitlam’s first-round selection in the 2028 Entry Draft and second-round Selection in the 2025 Entry Draft
- Delta’s first-round selection in both the 2025 and 2026 Entry Drafts, both previously acquired by Coquitlam in January 2023 (considered part of Future Considerations)

Schiavon heads to Nanaimo
Meanwhile, Langley also traded Chase Shiavon to the Nanaimo Timbermen.
Nanaimo receives:
- Junior A playing rights to Chase Schiavon
Langley receives:
- Nanaimo's third-round selection in the 2025 Entry Draft
- Cash considerations and future considerations
Margetson, Munro, Quinn shipped to Saints
A trio of Thunder players were shipped to the Port Coquitlam Saints.
Port Coquitlam receives:
- Junior A playing rights to Jack Margetson, Calum Munro, and Ethan Quinn
Langley receives:
- Port Coquitlam’s First Round Selection in the 2028 Entry Draft
Lakers land Terry, Gagnon
The Burnaby Lakers also got in the trade action with Langley.
Burnaby receives:
- Junior A playing rights to Jaiden Terry and Ben Gagnon (NOTE: Gagnon’s playing rights will be returned to Langley Thunder at the conclusion of the 2024 Minto Cup)
Langley receives:
- Junior A and Junior B1 playing rights to Max Larson
- Burnaby’s first-round selection in the 2028 Entry Draft
Timbermen also acquire McDonald
Finally, Nanaimo and the Delta Islanders were also involved in a trade late last week, as the Timbermen acquired Ayden McDonald.
Nanaimo receives:
- Junior A playing rights to Ayden McDonald
Delta receives:
- Nanaimo’s second-round selection in the 2026 Entry Draft
