Jr. Bellies Add Director
The New Westminster Junior Salmonbellies are pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Bensmiller to our lacrosse family for the 2020 season.
Dave will be assuming the roles of Alternate Governor for both Jr. A and B and will be assisting in the overall operations of the organization. Dave – a Master Chef and Catering Company owner – is a resident of Mission BC. Married to wife Linda with two grown children Caity and Jeremy, he brings a wealth of lacrosse experience to our team.
A product of the Surrey Minor Lacrosse system, Dave played from Novice all the way through Minor, Junior and then to Senior with The Surrey Rebels. Playing on both the ‘’86 and ’88 President’s Cup teams, Dave won bronze and silver medals respectively. He also played field lacrosse and was instrumental in starting up the North Fraser Field Lacrosse Club in 1990.
Dave still keeps active in lacrosse as a player in both Masters box and field lacrosse to this day. He also brings a considerable resume of coaching and managing experience to the team as well; coaching in Surrey, White Rock and Mission minor lacrosse, as well as a stint with Hatzic Secondary School’s field team.
Dave’s Executive experience is equally impressive as well. In the mid-90’s Dave acted as the 1st ever Commissioner of Youth Field Lacrosse in the Lower Mainland, eventually becoming a Director and Commissioner for Tri-City Masters Field Lacrosse. Assuming the Presidency and GM of the Valley Rebels Sr. B team in 2011, he continues in those dual roles to this very day.
Dave’s goals in joining the team are to contribute to the traditional success of the Jr. Bellies in any ways he can, and, to bring a Minto Cup back to New Westminster.
