Islanders take game 6 to knock out 'Bellies
The Salmonbellies won a wild game 5 to stay alive and they were hoping to do the same on Friday night in front of their home crowd.
The Salmonbellies got off to a good start in the first period as MitchellStokes and AdamDickson each scored within the first 5 minutes of the game to make it 2-0.
The Islanders got on the board shortly after when SpencerBromley scored to make it a 2-1 game.
The ‘Bellies continued to pressure the rest of the first period, but the Islanders did enough defensively and in goal to keep it 2-1 heading into the second period.
ConnorRobinson scored early in the second period to make it 3-1, but the Islanders got it back when LiamMacdonald scored less than a minute later.
Halfway through the second period, the Islanders lost a big piece of their offence when ChaseFraser received a game misconduct for change box infraction, but it looks like the Islanders took it upon them to not let that bother them.
They tied the game up while they were shorthanded and then a few minutes later took their first lead of the game when CamMilligan scored.
The ‘Bellies tied it up shortly after, but with a late power play, the Islanders took advantage as JonPhillips scored to give the Islanders a 5-4 lead heading into the third period.
The Islanders got off a fantastic start in the third period that basically took the life out of the ‘Bellies. EvanMessenger scored shorthanded and then AidanMilburn scored to give the Islanders a 7-4 lead.
Bromley scored his second of the game on the power play, followed by two JaydenCampbell goals, making it 9-4 Islanders before the halfway mark on the third period.
The Salmonbellies tried to claw back as JeremyBosher and Dickson each scored before there was 5 minutes left on the clock, but they couldn’t generate anymore chances as the Islanders eliminate the Salmonbellies, taking game 6, 10-6.

We now get a rematch of last year’s final when the Adanacs swept the Islanders 4-0. The Islanders will hope to change that this year. Game 1 is scheduled for Wednesday, August 3, 7:30PM at the Coquitlam Sports Centre.
