Greg Rennie Named Canada West Head Coach

In preparation for the first U-19 International Lacrosse Festival, being held in Six Nations, ON on September 11th - 13th, in prelude to the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, Canada West Operator & General Manager Chris Fox has named current Delta Islanders Head Coach Greg Rennie as the Head Coach & Assistant General Manager for Canada West. "Rennie prides himself on knowing the players that are coming up through midget and intermediate systems and into the junior ranks." Rennie's skill of evaluating talent and relating to younger players  "will be vital in assembling this team" added Fox.

Rennie has had success at both the Intermediate A and Junior A levels, most notably BCJALL Coach of the Year in 2010. "I'm very honoured to be given this opportunity and to coach at the international level. I have a pretty good pulse on the talent out west and look forward to the challenges ahead." He recognizes that anything can happen; "with this being the first U-19 international box/indoor event, it makes it very interesting and we'll need to be ready."

Rennie is humbled by the new appointment, but the focus quickly shifts to the players "this is a great opportunity for western players, not only to play together, but also to compete against some of the best U-19 players in the world on an international stage. Having the tournament in Six Nations is special, it allows players the chance to play in a very special place, something every player should do at least once in their career." Rennie knows from experience having played Junior A for the Orillia Kings in 2000. He also added "the community will no doubt host an amazing event."
