Graduating Player Draft Lottery to be Held Thursday

by Gareth Gilson

The British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League (BCJALL) is announcing today that as a result of one season completely lost to COVID-19, and the 2021 season run with an unbalanced schedule, they will hold a draft lottery to determine the order of the 2022 Graduating Player Draft.

The draft lottery will be held on Thursday, October 28th at 6:45pm, and will be webcast live on BCJALL.com.

With six rounds in the draft, there will be three separate draws to determine the order of each pair of draft rounds as follows:

  • The draft order will be in reverse order of the draw, that is, the first team drawn will pick last in the first round;
  • In the second round, the draft order will be the reverse of the first round;
  • The process will repeat twice more for the third/fourth rounds, and the fifth/sixth rounds.

Following the draft lottery, the BCJALL will be hosting a pair of player combines in early January, one each on the Island and in Greater Vancouver, leading up to the Graduating Player Draft at the end of January. More details and registration information will be posted on BCJALL.com as details are finalized.
