Game of the Week | Week 10

Victoria Shamrocks @ Coquitlam Adanacs - Sunday, June 29 5:00PM

After playing each other Saturday, the Adanacs will host the Shamrocks for their third and final meeting this season. With the first game between the two clubs ending in a 9-9 tie, a crucial two points is up for grabs as both teams fight for a better position in the standings and a more favourable draw heading into the post season. With Coquitlam sitting in second with 29 points, and Victoria currently in third with 23, it is probable these two teams will face each other in the first round of the 2014 BCJALL playoffs.

In the last back-to-back weekend the Shamrocks had, the captured two important wins against the Lakers to knock them out of the playoff race, separating themselves from their Island rivals and passed Delta to move to third. The second meeting the ‘Rocks had with the Lakers also led to some rough stuff and as a result Victoria ended the game with 62 PIMS while Burnaby collected a season high of 141 PIMS.

With Coquitlam known to be a physical team, you can’t help but wonder if the second meeting between the two teams in two days could lead to another rough one, if so, special teams could make all the difference.

Look for Victoria’s offense to keep up their high scoring ways as they try to upset the second place Adanacs.

This will cap off a fairly busy week for Coquitlam as this will make or their third game in five days. Coquitlam will look to get things rolling again after losing to New West in last week’s “Game of the Week” and a narrow 8-6 victory over the seventh place Lakers.

Two wins would clinch second for the Adanacs and give them the mental edge over a young Victoria team they are likely to meet in their first playoff series. The Adanacs will look to their balanced offense and skilled transition players to make the difference on the score board while their aggressive defense will do their best to silence the young guns on Victoria who are currently leading the team on their 5 game win streak. This weekend could also solidify which goalie Coquitlam decides to lean on heading into the postseason as Christian DelBianco and Riley Camazzola have each had a bit of action in recent games.

In what will likely be a high scoring affair, get out to the Palace for the clash between the experienced and physical Adanacs, as they host the young and speedy Victoria Shamrocks this Sunday.
