Coquitlam Adanacs Player Signing Announcement
FREE AGENT PLAYER SIGNINGS
Press Release:
The Coquitlam Adanacs are please to announce that they have reached agreement on the releases of the following players to join the 2006 Junior club.
John Lintz
From the Edmonton lacrosse area, 6'3" 190 20 year old left-handed defender. John brings tremendous speed and athleticism to the Junior Adanacs. He is consider by many to be one of the top 5 defenders in Alberta, with the tremendous ability to control loose balls, he was also a first round draft pick of the newly formed Edmonton Eclipse Jr A team in Alberta. "The Coquitlam Jr Adanacs are excited to have a player of John's ability on our squad this season", said GM Ken Wood. "John will be a nice compliment to our already solid core of third and second year players the next to seasons. The other bright spot that he brings to us is speed, which has always been a strong focus of previous Coquitlam squads, and will be even more so this season as we move towards a more transition style of game in 2006"
Ben Reaume
From the Burlington Chiefs Junior A, 6' 4" 200 19 years old right hander. "This young man is only 19 with one full season of Ontario Junior A lacrosse under his belt" GM Wood stated. He comes highly recommended by the eastern scout who was consistently encouraging us in the off season to bring out. "In 19 games for Burlington, in his first Junior A season, he had 8-28-36 with 22 minutes in penalties, good enough for fourth on his team, and that was on a club that did not fair all that well. We expect he'll have a better time out west and playing with a solid strong core of right hander as well as other members on our team".
"As the General Manager, I have to say I am quite pleased as to how our squad is shaping up" said Wood. We have upgraded in the area of free agents over last year and added height and weight to our overall roster. "You add the fact that we have aged up Ryan Kwasnica 6' 0" 165 right hander, the leading scorer of our Intermediate A team last season, and I think the first thing you'll notice is are even faster then last year with expected increased scoring".
Added to what is expected to be big years for the returning second years and third years, Calvin Craig, Kelly Kilpatrick, Joel Burgess, Sean Robinson and Steve McKinley things seem pretty exciting around the Coquitlam Adanacs training sessions.
Brodie Venn
From Winnipeg via stops in Vernon 5' 11" 175 21 year old left hander. Brodie brings a tremendous level of athleticism and speed to the team and is expected to add to the compliment of left handed offensive players that Coquitlam already has. "We are expecting a solid performance from Brodie, with the speed and shape he is in we think his secondary offense and ability to play two-ways to work out well for us", says GM Ken Wood.
PHILIP NAMED 2006 TEAM CAPTAIN
Press Release:
This season's team captain was named and the choice was a good one. "When you think of a team captain, you think about some one that not only has the respect of all the players on your squad, but who represents that heart and sole of your team and we have that in this years captain", that was how General Manager Ken Wood responded to the announcement made by Coach Jake Elliott that Mark Philip would be the team captain of the 2006 Coquitlam Adanacs.
"A great choice considering nobody brings or represents the determination and dedication of an Adanac like Mark. When you are looking for a leader, some one who can be identified by the other players, and someone who can put a stamp on your team for the year, Mark Philip jumps right out. I expected that wearing the "C" for us this season Mark will have a big year and he'll set the tone and leadership that we want in Coquitlam for this season" concluded Wood.
