Coquitlam Adanacs Decide to Change Bench Boss

Ken Wood, General Manager of the Coquitlam Adanacs announced today the decision to change the head coach and coaching staff of the A's effective immediately. “After much debate and sole searching the decision is made to take the club in a completely different direction at the coaching level. This arguably is the biggest, and most definitely, one of the hardest decisions I have ever made in lacrosse”, says Wood.

The Adanacs thank Dan Perreault, and his coaching staff for everything they have done. “I personally thank Dan and his staff for three solid years on our clubs behalf, but at the end of the day the decision I had to make was, was I satisfied and comfortable with the direction the club had been taking and if so then staying with the status quo or would a change be in the best interest and help us take the next step to the Minto Cup and make the club stronger in the long run. After agonizing over that question it was my decision that it was best that I make this change.”

Announce the Hiring of Curt Malawsky

“The direction that the club is taking is to announce the hiring of Curt Malawsky as our head coach for the 2010 season along with Rod Jensen as his assistant coach”, adds Wood. “If I was going to make a change and replace a solid coach, I knew there was only one person out there that has a stronger resume and credentials, and that was Curt Malawsky”.

“This is the direction that I feel the Junior Adanacs need to go. I approached Curt once I had grapple with the decision to change to see if he was willing to come on board, after some discussions he was. I think this is an important day for our club, Curt Malawsky is a proven playoff and Minto Cup winner at the junior level , his success speaks for itself”.

I believe at the end of the day this change is what we need to do to step up to the next level, to push and drive through to where we need to go to win the Minto Cup. “Every thing that we do as players, coaches and managers is to make sure that we are in the best shape to reach the highest level that we can in this game, today’s decision to hire Curt Malawsky I believe is an extremely positive step to reaching higher for the Junior Adanacs”.
