Big Changes for Salmonellies in 2009
Walt Weaver, President of the New Westminster Junior Salmonbellies of the B.C. Junior Lacrosse League, announced a number of major changes for the 2009 edition of the team.
Doug Zack has been promoted to General Manager of the 'Bellies, succeeding long time GM Harry Ferguson, who will now take on the Vice- President and Co-Governor role with the team.
Brad Parker, who has coached the Intermediate Bellies for the last four years, leading them to two provincial championships, including last season, will become the team's Head Coach.
Brad has a long history in the game. He played his junior lacrosse with Burnaby Cablevision and was a member of one of their Minto Cup teams. He was originally drafted by the Senior Salmonbellies and played a number of years in the WLA.
Brad's outstanding ability to coach and develop young players was a key reason he was chosen for his new position.
When not coaching, Brad is Chief Constable of the Port Moody Police Department.
Brad's bench assistants will be Jason Dallavalle and Ray Porcello, who have so ably assisted him with the Intermediate Bellies and former WLA and NLL player Kevin Stewardson. Stewardson was a key member of the 1994 Minto Cup champion Jr. Salmonbellies.
The 'Bellies would like to thank Rob Dick, who had been Head Coach since 2006, and his assistants Ivan Tuura and Todd Stockdale for the dedication, time and energy they brought to the team.
