'Bellies add Asstant GM

The New Westminster Salmonbellies are pleased to announce the recent appointment of Ray Porcellato as the team’s ‘Assistant General Manager’. Ray joins the ‘Bellies Management Staff after serving as a very successful defensive coach for the Junior A team the last three years, contributing to three Provincial Silver medals and a third place finish at the 2010 Minto Cup in that time.

It was Ray’s decision to step down as the defensive coach and pursue a ‘different’ role within the organization for the 2012 season and beyond. General Manager Doug Zack left little time pursuing Ray and getting him involved immediately in shaping the 2012 Junior A and Intermediate A teams. “Ray’s commitment, passion, local lacrosse involvement as well as his overall knowledge of the game fits in perfect with our organization’s standards and goals. I look forward to Ray working beside me to not only continue what we’ve been building the last 4 years but contribute in a huge way to meeting our goal of winning the ‘Minto Cup’ ”.

Ray played his entire Minor, Intermediate A, Junior A and Senior A lacrosse with the Salmonbellies and started coaching in the Minors, winning the Midget Gold Medal in 2006 and was part of the Intermediate A coaching staff that the won the Provincial Gold in 2008 before moving up to the Junior A club.

A replacement for the Junior A’s defensive coach will be named in the near future.
