BCs best junior players selected at 2018 NLL Draft
Some of the best and brightest BCJALL players past and present kicked off their professional box lacrosse careers at the 2018 NLL Draft. 17 players were selected over the course of the 74 overall picks, and almost all of them find themselves in good situations at their respective clubs.
The newly rebranded Vancouver Warriors added some hometown flair to their lineup, picking almost exclusively from BC, and restocking the shelves under new general manager Dan Richardson. Among those selections is the 2018 BCJALL Top Scorer in the Victoria Shamrocks' Braylon Lumb, who went 55th overall. Lumb showed he can perform in all situations and developed leaps and bounds over the last two seasons when he was relied upon. The Warriors took five players from BC in total.
The Calgary Roughnecks surprisingly took even more with six. Eli Salama and Reece Callies could both develop into vital players for the team's transition game while Adam Dickson could chip in offensively if called on. Tyson Kirkness, who is fresh off a Minto Cup victory with the Coquitlam Adanacs, is also a player to watch as he could make the team out of training camp with his aggressive style of defence.
Two more BC players are headed to San Diego to join the Seals in the inaugural year. Graydon Bradley was another deadline add by the Adanacs en route to the Minto and brings a big physical presence coming out of the back gate. Zac Christianson is also a reliable defender.
Congrats to all the current and former BCJALL players and good luck in your future lacrosse careers.
