GAME 7 (IF NECESSARY) - TUESDAY, AUGUST 7 - 7:30 PM - COQUITLAM SPORTS CENTRE

After a few games of not looking in top form, Christian Del Bianco and the Coquitlam Adanacs' defence came to play on Wednesday night en route to a resounding 12-5 win over New Westminster to tie the BCJALL Finals at 2 games apiece.

The team clamped down and didn't allow a third-period goal for the third time in seven games in the BCJALL playoffs (they held the Shamrocks without one in two of three games); a Charlie Kurtenbach goal with just over four minutes left in the second was the last time New West rippled the mesh.

In reality, it was a dominant first period that gave Coquitlam a huge early-game lead and they wouldn't look back, up 7-2 after the first period. They spread the scoring around, which we haven't seen much in the first 3 games - six guys scored the seven first period goals in Colin Munro (2), Dennon Armstrong, Chase Scanlan, Jalen Chaster, Larson Sundown and Adam Fulton.

The A's D were also able to keep the explosive Salmonbellies' O in check for most of the night. Ryan Jones, who leads the BCJALL in points these playoffs, had a team-high three points, while Tre Leclaire and Keegan Bell were the only others with multi-point nights (1 goal and 1 assist each). The increasingly gritty series means the 'Bellies core will be relied upon a little bit more to try and carry them through.

Erik Kratz had a bit of an off night, which surely contributed to New West's woes. He was pulled after allowing 9 goals on 22 shots. Keegan Melenychuk played well in relief, allowing just 3 goals on 24 shots the rest of the way. Christian Del Bianco was arguably the game's 1st star, with only 5 goals allowed on 45 shots while playing in front of a stout D.

Game 5 is always regarded as the turning point in many series, and a win for either team will give them both the confidence and momentum heading into the final 2 games of the season. New West will need to continue to try and get to the middle of the floor and top of Del Bianco for their best chances while trying to limit the Adanacs' sharpshooters from going off for five or six points again.

On the other side of things, Coquitlam will feel good about Game 4 and will be happy to see the potential on both O and D. The offense has struggled to get off the ground against a similarly punishing New West D, but the ball movement and pace looked much better in Game 4.

Game 5 goes back at the Palace on Poirier on Friday at 7:30 PM. Game 6 will be Sunday afternoon at Queens Park Arena at 5 PM and if necessary, Game 7 is back in Coquitlam on Tuesday, August 7.

All games will continue to be broadcast live on PPV with PlayFullScreen.
