COQUITLAM LEADS SERIES 3-2
GAME 6 - SUNDAY - 5 PM - QUEENS PARK ARENA
GAME 7 (IF NECESSARY) - TUESDAY, AUGUST 7 - 7:30 PM - COQUITLAM SPORTS CENTRE
The Coquitlam Adanacs are on the brink of heading to their 10th straight Minto Cup appearance on the heels of a dominant win in Game 5 of the BCJALL Finals. The A's didn't allow a goal for nearly 46 minutes en route to a 13-2 win and a 3-2 series lead.
Coquitlam's suffocating D once again showed why the Adanacs will be a tough out for any team in the country. This isn't the first time the A's have completely shut down the opposition offensively this season, and it isn't the first time in this series either, but it does seem to get more impressive each time they're able to do it.
Coquitlam was led by Larson Sundown and Chase Scanlan, who had a combined seven goals and five assists between them. Dylan Foulds, Colin Munro and Adam Fulton all chipped in with four points apiece in the win. Midget A1 callup Luca Antongiovani even got in on the action, getting his first career BCJALL playoff point, an assist on Will Clayton's first period tally.
For New West, Ryan Jones continues to be a revelation since coming over to the 'Bellies at the trade deadline. 2 more goals on Friday night gives him 9 in the playoffs, as well as a league-leading 26 points.
Erik Kratz had another rough outing and was pulled in relief of Keegan Melenychuk for the second-straight game. Kratz allowed 10 goals on 41 shots, while his counterpart Del Bianco was almost perfect, allowing just two goals on 28 shots.
New West will be in tough again on Sunday evening when they try to extend this series to a Game 7, and while they do have the merits of home-floor advantage, that has been mostly anything but in this series. Coquitlam's Game 5 was the first time a team has won at home all series.
