Adanacs beat brampton in 4 games to win minto cup
The Coquitlam Adanacs fought through controversy and had to fight through adversity but were able to outlast the Brampton Excelsiors in overtime of Game 4, winning the Minto Cup in a 10-8 win.
Brampton went on a huge run after a pair of Larson Sundown goals at 8:05 and 8:51 of the second period to take a 7-2 lead, scoring five straight goals to tie the game at 7-7. The Excelsiors were on a roll and had the Adanacs on their heels - Jeff Teat had just scored shorthanded - but Will Clayton responded with a massive power play goal midway through the 3rd.
Clayton would score again to take the lead again in overtime and Ethan Ticehurst would ice it. Christian Del Bianco had 29 saves to cap off an incredible Junior career while Steven Orleman was up to the task in his own right, keeping Brampton in it with 52 saves on 62 shots.
Congratulations to the Adanacs on an awesome season and their first Minto Cup title since 2016. Also congrats to the Brampton Excelsiors, who put up a valiant fight and were a worthy opponent.
