Adanacs Cruise with Win Over Thunder
The Coquitlam Adanacs visited the Langley Events Centre to faceoff against the Brett Dobray-less Thunder. After defeating the Burnaby Lakers last night 14-9, the Adanacs were back at it looking to distance themselves from the Salmonbellies.
The first period was certainly a period to forget for the Thunder. Adanacs' Andy Taylor striked first at 1:57 on a breakaway, followed by some nice passing and Evan Wortley finishing it off at 2:24 to make it 2-0 Adanacs. Under a minute later, Jordan Gilles got in all alone with the Thunder defense sleeping and Gilles made it 3-0.
With Riley Glemnitz in the box for four minutes, the Adanacs were able to score one on the power play. Brett Kujala scored from a tough angle, but made it possible and the Adanacs had a 4-0 lead.
Jean Luc Chetner made it 5-0 at 17:54 and then the Thunder finally got on the board with 1:23 remaining in the period, cutting the Adanacs' lead to 4 heading into the second period.
It looks like the Thunder might want to forget about the second period as well and possibly the rest of the game.
The game started to get heated and then a fight broke loose between Adanacs' Erik Klein and Thunder's Greg Finley at 4:54. Greg Finley had his helmet on for most of the fight and basically went to town on Klein's back, but at the end of it all, Klein received a fighting major and Finley received an instigator and the boot, giving the Adanacs a five-minute power play.
The Adanacs managed to score only one on the power play, coming from Chase McIntyre at 6:58, but the Adanacs continued to bring the pain. Jonathan Kraakman and Klein scored to give the Adanacs a 8-1 lead.
Adanacs' Michael Messenger received two minutes for cross checking at 13:48, but there was no slowing down for the Adanacs as Cole Shafer scored shorthanded at 15:09. By the end of the second period, the Adanacs got an even strength goal and another shorthanded goal to make it 11-1.
58 seconds into the third period, Shafer netted his second of the game and it was also his second shorthanded goal, making it 12-1 Adanacs.
The Thunder got their second goal of the game at 4:14 when Nicolas Jackson put it in the back of the net and no matter what the score was, he still cheered loud.
Kujala scored from the same spot as his first goal on the power play at 7:30, followed by a beautiful behind the back goal from Griffen Leclaire and Michael Messenger to make it 14-2 Adanacs.
The Adanacs didn't let go of the gas pedal as Evan Wortley walked right in with the Thunder just watching him.
The Thunder were able to get their third goal of the game at 13:56 when Brendan Mykle-Winkler scored on the power play and to cap it all off, Thunder's Ryan Gladiuk dropped the gloves with Greg Batt and Gladiuk got the same treatment as Finley - an instigator, followed by a fighting major and a game misconduct as the Adanacs cruised to at 16-3 win.
