A's Win Back-to-Back Against 'Rocks
After last night's 15-6 loss to the Adanacs, the Shamrocks will look to get their revenge against those same Adanacs on Sunday evening at the Coquitlam Sports Centre.
Adanacs' Tyler Pace opened the scoring rather quickly as he scored 51 seconds in to give the Adanacs a 1-0 lead, but at 4:09 the Shamrocks tied it up with a goal from Nate Wade and it all stopped there for the 'Rocks.
The rest of the first period was dominated by the Adanacs. Evan Wortley scored at 6:16 and then newly acquired Eli McLaughlin scored at the seven-minute mark and at 8:14 to give the Adanacs a 4-1 lead.
Adanacs' Chase McIntyre scored at 12:03 and that caused Shamrocks to make a goalie change as Ryley Brown took over the crease.
The Shamrocks had some scoring chances on a few power plays to cut into the Adanacs lead, but they couldn't beat Riley Camazzola. With 15 seconds remaining in the first period, Adanacs' Johnathan Kraakman scored shorthanded to give the Adanacs a 6-1 lead heading into the locker room.
The second period wasn't any better for the Shamrocks. Pace opened the scoring again in the second period when he scored on the power play at 1:08.
The Shamrocks got their second goal of the game at 4:29 when Cole Pickup scored on the power play , but just like the last period, that was it for the Shamrocks in this period.
The Adanacs took a 8-2 lead when Jordan Gilles scored at 10:16. The Shamrocks got into penalty trouble when Chris Kasper received two minutes for high sticking at 12:34 and then less than 20 seconds later, Brock Thompson-Marshall got four minutes for checking from behind. The Adanacs worked their power play and Wortley finished off a great passing play with Brett Kujala and Pace at 13:23.
With Thompson-Marshall still in the penalty box, the Adanacs continued to work on their power play and Kujala scored at 16:04 to give the Adanacs a 10-2 lead which was the last piece of action to wrap up the second period.
The third period breezed by as both teams knew the state of the game and just wanted to get it over with. Ryan Lewis of the Shamrocks opened the scoring in the third period when he scored at 4:05 to make it a 10-3 game.
The middle frame consisted of few chances for both teams and penalties until 15:04 when Aidan Paike scored for the Shamrocks, but then the Adanacs decided to go on a run. Chetner scored at 16:16 followed by Michael Messenger at 17:12, Pace at 18:19 and Chetner again at 18:37 to make it 14-4 Adanacs.
With just over a minute remaining, Klein laid out a big hit on Thompson-Marshall, which didn't sit well with the Shamrocks. Kasper wanted to start something with Klein and then Robin Lowenberger butt in, but other than minor penalties being called, nothing came to fruition and the final score was 14-4 Adanacs.
