A's and Islanders Make Moves
On Tuesday, the Coquitlam Adanacs announced a trade of player rights with the Delta Islanders. 6'3 lefty, COREY WILLIAMSON will be making his way to Coquitlam for his last eligible year of Junior A.
Williamson hadn't dressed for Delta so far in 2008, but in fifteen regular season games last season posted 33 points (15G's, 18A's).
"We give up youth and future prospects, but what we gain is experience, size and a big shot to add to the team's arsenal", said Adanacs' GM Ken Wood. "We watched Corey all of last season and tried to acquire him at the trade deadline. We are very glad to bring him on board for this season."
The Adanacs organization is excited to obtain a player who knows what this level of lacrosse is all about. Wood continues, "He's played in Junior A, he knows what it takes and he is productive. To acquire all of that and to add him to our roster we feel very good about".
In return Delta received two promising player from Coquitlam's bountiful Intermediate program. Fifth round 2007 pick RYAN CHAN will add some size with his six foot two frame. Chan played Intermediate with the A's in 2007 and managed five goals and five helpers in eighteen games.
Another "addition" to the Delta roster is goaltender STEWART CATCHEWAY. Catcheway plays for Delta's Intermediate A team already, but since he is a Coquitlam resident player the Islanders didn't officially have his playing rights. Catcheway also played for Port Moody in 2007 where he won a silver medal with the team at provincial championships.
The A's hope to have Williamson suit up for their road game in Nanaimo, and definitely for their next home game - Wednesday May 21st when they host South Fraser.
