3 STARS: Netminders Dominate The Week

by Owen Munro

1 CHRISTIAN DEL BIANCO, COQUITLAM ADANACS

3 GAMES, 16 GA, 134 SHOTS, .880 SAVE %, 2-1 RECORD

Del Bianco has kept up his impressive form upon returning to the A's from NLL Calgary. Despite dropping a tough one against Port Coquitlam last week, CDB has been rock steady in goal, essentially leading off from where he finished last year as he had a dominant Minto Cup tournament, almost willing the A's over Mimico in the Semifinals.

He made a big difference in Coquitlam's come-from-behind win over Langley, allowing eight goals on 46 shots and looking good doing so.

CDB also did what many BCJALL goalies don't get to do - callup to a WLA team and start. It was under extenuating circumstances (the injury bug) that the WLA Shamrocks brought Del Bianco in. He allowed Victoria to go toe-to-toe with last year's WLA Final foes, making 47 saves on 56 shots in a close 9-8 loss. While he didn't get his first WLA win, you can guarantee you'll still be seeing his name minding a WLA net in the future.

2 TRE LECLAIRE, NEW WESTMINSTER SALMONBELLIES

3 GAMES, 15 GOALS, 6 ASSISTS, 21 POINTS

The move to bring in Tre Leclaire has paid immediate dividends for the Salmonbellies. Not only is he filling the net with goals, but he appears to have quickly gelled with his teammates and his presence has helped create room for them to also put the ball in the net.

He was unstoppable against his former club in Delta, putting up seven goals and two assists for nine points. That succeeded two games where he put up a combined 12 points and helped the 'Bellies to two strong wins over Victoria and the improving Burnaby Lakers. This week's barrage of goals has catapulted him to the top of the scoring table and his PPG and overall point totals has him in the top five of both categories.

3 CAM OVERBY, PORT COQUITLAM SAINTS

2 GAMES, 5 GA, 50 SHOTS, .900 SAVE %, 2-0 RECORD

While he didn't see a whole lot of action in the past week, we can't overlook the way Cam Overby played in a huge 5-4 win for the Port Coquitlam Saints over their rivals in Coquitlam. He made 34 saves on 38 shots, a huge reason the Saints were able to turn the game into a low-scoring affair and ultimately pull out the win.

Overby also turned aside all but one shot against the Delta Islanders. Overby has bounced around a few teams in his still-early Junior A career, but he is beginning to carve a role in the Saints net. He's still been productive wherever he's gone and will continue to be counted on if the Saints make another run in the BCJALL playoffs.
